About Hell's Bent

How this all got started

Hell’s Bent first appeared in Cardiff at the beginning of 2008. We’d always wanted to host a gay club night that had a real party vibe to it. A night that offered a range of music that was an alternative to typical gay nights.

When we saw there was a demand, we knew we had to go ahead and start Hell's Bent.

We wanted the night to be really inclusive; this wasn’t about cutting ourselves off from the 'scene', it was about creating our own space with our own ideas. We wanted to create a fun night that focused on great music.

We chose the best indie DJs in Cardiff to make sure the music was top notch. There are plenty of typical gay clubs and bars that play typical chart music; we wanted Hell’s Bent to be something different. Just because we’re gay doesn’t mean we want to listen to Kelly Clarkson remixes!

The first Hell’s Bent was held at The Point in Cardiff Bay. The turn out was fantastic and we knew that this was something we could do every month.

After the closure of The Point, Hell’s Bent decided to go on a bit of a tour of Cardiff. Venues have included Clwb Ifor Bach, The Globe and Ten Feet Tall.

Hell’s Bent is about having fun, great music, dancing, having an ace time with your mates and not giving a damn.
